Day 61, February 1, 2012 afternoon

Dear Lyle:

I was so sad and distraught this morning, I don't believe I could get to any news.

Lora, my cousin, sent me a message a few days ago.  Delburt an Colleen are not doing very well living on their own in Texas.  You'll remember that when we went to Texas in June, Lora was moving to Oregon.  Well, both Del and Colleen have really gone down hill since then.  They both have lost most of their memories.  Del can't even drive to town without getting lost every time.  He's stopped paying the bills, including their house bill and was giving money to the neighbors to pay the bills.  It appears the neighbor was not honest with the money.  Also, Del was trying to light a fire not to long ago with some kind of grease or oil and burned his hand really bad.  When he went to put it down on the carpet to get up, it burned a hand print in the carpet.  So, Adult Protective Services called Lora.  She's been down to Texas for two days trying to pack up their stuff and trick them into going back to Oregon with her.  She's purchased their airline tickets.  I just hope she can get them on the plane.  I spoke with her and Colleen today.  Colleen doesn't even to seem to know what's going on.  She told me, they're all doing really good.  and then said, Okay, I'll give you back to Lora.  I offer my prayers to them.

Gary is still in jail, and it looks like he will be for a while longer.  Sharon is not doing well at all.  She seems to have bad weeks the same time I do, so I really have to avoid talking to her then.  She makes me feel worse.  But, then she has a good week, or maybe it's my good week, I can't tell, and talking to her isn't so bad.

James is back to work after his latest seizure.  He's in a bit of pain, but still doesn't have feeling in his left hand.  He's talking better and walking with cane.  Holly just hangs in their, but I am starting to notice the stress in her.

Xander is in the final stretch of this track off.  Both he and I are really looking forward to him returning to school. Track off is hard, because he has to stay here with me, with no where to go.  Maybe I should consider placing him in a track off program at the rec center.  I'm going to seriously look into that for next off track.

I've purchased plane tickets for me and Xander to go to Kentucky over President's Day weekend.  Isaac is paying for a portion of my ticket and Carol (of all people) paid for Xander's.  I can't afford to take Ruthie, and besides with her sluffing seminary, I've decided to have her stay home with Kara.  Ruth and Isaac are sad about that.  But, it's the best solution, plus, I don't think Xander could take the abandonment issues of me leaving him here for the weekend. I'm really looking forward to going.  Short though it is.

I'm still taking institute, although the instructor this semester is not good.  I try to get something of use from every time.  Last week was hard.  I'll have to try harder this week.

So, that's the big news today.  February 1st.  Countdown to Valentine's Day.

Shauna
